Rockingham Motor Speedway was a motor racing venue located near Corby in Northamptonshire, England. It opened in 2001 and was built as one of the United Kingdom’s few modern oval racing circuits. The venue was best known for its large grandstands, American-style speedway layout, and its 1.5-mile banked oval. Rockingham also included an infield road course, allowing it to host a variety of racing events. Over the years, it held touring cars, sports cars, single-seaters, stock cars, and track day events. The circuit was especially known for hosting British Touring Car Championship races and ASCAR-style oval racing. Although regular motorsport events ended in 2018, Rockingham remains an interesting part of recent British motorsport history because of its unusual design and ambitious attempt to bring oval racing to the UK.
